The South Aisle

The South Aisle contains many old flags some of which are over 200 years old and many fine stained glass windows in memory of the Deans of Derry .There are many fine stone and marble memorials including one to Archibald Boyd father of Captain McNeil Boyd whose memorial is in the North Aisle. He was also father-in-law to Colonel T. F. Colby of the Ordnance Survey, who married his daughter Elizabeth and father of Robert Boyd who died in Spain during a civil war in 1831. His grandson became Bishop Boyd Carpenter. Another interesting memorial is to Valentine Munbee McMaster, V.C., a surgeon with the 78th Highlanders and served at the Relief of Lucknow where he was awarded the Victoria Cross on 17th October 1857.
